Garden Route Game Lodge is introducing new cleanliness practices and protocols along with social distancing guidelines aimed at enhancing the safety of both our guests and staff.

Preventative measures taken :

Staff Training

All staff will receive training on preventative measures and hygiene protocols. Staff will undergo daily screening and temperature tests and will be provided with the necessary protective equipment in line with regulations to ensure that they are safe and ready to engage with our guests. Staff have been trained on best practice hygiene and sanitation. Warm smiles and nods will replace the familiar handshake as a friendly greeting upon arrival and during your stay with us.

Arrival, Check in and smart guest interaction

Access gate to the game reserve – automated access control at gate means no touch access nor manually completing register – guests to use QR code provided or dial the gate to open.

At reception all safety and hygiene protocols will be observed including social distancing measures. Each guest will be temperature screened in a non- invasive and safe manner to ensure the health and safety of all our visitors and staff. Online check in is encouraged.

Capacity at our game lodge

We have the reduced the capacity at our game lodge in line with recommended guidelines across our staff and guest complement. Rooms at our game lodge will therefore be generously set apart from one another offering additional privacy and safety keeping contact to a minimum.

Public spaces hygiene

We have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting in public spaces and this should be immediately evident to our guests. Hotel teams are focused on cleaning frequent contact surfaces such as front desk check-in counters, door handles, public bathrooms, room keys and locks, handrails, bar and dining surfaces.

All public areas will have alcohol-based, hospital-grade hand sanitiser readily available for your use. You can find it in all common areas, reception, on game drives and in your room, upon special request.

Rooms hygiene

Housekeeping at Garden Route Game Lodge makes use of cleaning agents that contain SABS approved disinfectants. Additional frequencies of sanitising of high traffic and high touch point areas have been implemented. All linen will be washed at 60 degrees to effectively destroy any bacteria.

Housekeepers have a detailed list of “touchpoints” that are touched frequently by guests. High strength disinfectant and microfiber cloths or disposable towels are used to cleanse all touchpoints as per the detailed schedule.

Restaurant and dining

All dining and casual seating will be reconfigured to allow for social distancing and create a relaxed atmosphere among our diners. This includes outside decks as well as boma seating and lounges.

Buffet breakfast and dinner will be replaced by la carte or in room dining options to ensure adherence to safety and hygiene regulations.

 

At the heart of hospitality

The safety and well- being our guests have always been at the heart of our approach to hospitality. Now as we face this new challenge we remain fully committed to this task while offering our guests the peace of mind to enjoy a memorable stay with us knowing that we have implemented the necessary precautions to ensure their health and safety during their stay at our game reserve.

As new information and technology becomes available we will adapt our approach to ensure a safe environment for all our guests.

Doctor on call

In the event of one of our guests requiring medical advice during their stay with us, we have set up a 24 -hour hotline to a doctor on call who will take over in dispensing advice in a professional capacity. We will be making use of the services of Dr Neethling of Intercare, a private medical practice based in George. www.intercare.co.za
